Today I had a conversation in the hallway with one of our students and that brief encounter improved my day. This little guy, all of 6 years old, had demonstrated a skill many adults have yet to master. He stopped what he was doing and looked directly into my eyes while talking with me. Whew, after being in a meeting where many of the members were checking e-mail, this moment was significant. No multi-tasking for him. He gave me his attention...undivided...genuine...a simple, yet powerful response. He held eye contact with me until we concluded our discussion and I turned to walk away.
Yes, our children continue to provide examples of how to demonstrate consideration and respect for others. I am certain this young man's parents instilled the value of this behavior. His action was a learned response, and one we could all learn to use more consistently.

Wireless...Not Yet
We are in the final phase of our wireless installation. Yes, I know I said that two months ago and I'm continuing to work from the information I receive.
Rockenbaugh will be the first campus in the district to have wireless, so we have the opportunity to problem-solve through new issues! We're up for the challenge and definitely ready for wireless and more student computers!! We will be receiving four laptops for each classroom in January and we can increase our utilization of technology.
The Promethean Boards are great and our teachers are continuing to find new resources to support instruction. Even our youngest preschool students are using this as a tool for learning. I can remember when colored chalk was a big deal!

Ready or not...here they come!!
Yes, today was the first official back-to-school day for staff members. Many have been at school for the past week working tirelessly to get their room ready for students. Just as impressive are the number of parents that are working at school...bullentin boards, landscaping, painting a parking space...our commuity continues to impress and amaze me. I am so fortunate to be at a school where the parents value what we do and demonstate their support through time, effort, and funding. The nicest efforts provided by the parents are those values they instill in their children. We have the most exceptional students! I look forward to each new year and the adventures as each day unfolds.

Look at me...I'm blogging!
Today I have pulled myself into a new level of technology...blogging! Yes, I'm ready to begin posting my thoughts, questions, and small moments for others. Not sure why someone would want to read about my day since I have great difficulty securing my husband's attention for more than a few moments, but here goes!
